How to choose
tennis Racquet? - Balance
(in picture you can see balance 13.75 in. Head Heavy (2pts) )
Second thing is "Balance"
In the above picture, you can see the Balance "13.75 in / 34.93 cm", "2 pts HH". What are those things mean?
Simply, it is center of gravity from bottom of grip side. The total length of this Racquet is "27 in / 68.58 cm" and the center of gravity is "13.75 in / 34.93 cm". However, even point, 27 over 2 is "13.5 in". So the head part is heavier than the grip part.
"HH" means "Head Heavy". "HL" means "Head Light". "Even" means the center of gravity is exact center of the racquet. "2 pts" means 0.25 in away from center. So "1 pt" means "0.125 in".
Therefore, "2 pts HH" means "the center of gravity is 0.25 in away from center toward Head".
Then, why is it important to play? The head heavy racquet needs more torque to swing it but it is easy to hit the ball more powerfully. The head light racquet is easy to control and it needs less time to react some situation. So if you are powerful player and play at the back side of the court with powerful swing, you need to use HH racquet. However, if you like a fast play which means your position is usually near the net, you should use HL racquet. If you are the all-arounder you need to use Even racquet.
